Monday May 3rd

Yesterday was a hectic day but still exciting and new. I wake up each morning feeling so free. I know it is short but while I have it I am really enjoying it.
After a leisurely wake up I ventured down to an Al La Carte breakfast taking my time and reading the paper. I had been advised that in order to transfer to the hotel in the city “Camden Court”(the tour beginning hotel) it would be cheaper and easier to catch the shuttle back to the airport and catch the 16A public bus into the city. Apparently this bus stops just near the hotel.
I followed the advice and found the stop for the public bus whereupon I caught it along with loads of others and their equally 20kg+ cases. The weather was as expected-really cold and wet! Which I am strangely enjoying-can’t account for taste hey! Remember this was a public bus I was catching. All this made for a very interesting hour long trip. Boy do you learn a lot about human nature and the various generations .It must be said I was not in this case proud of the generation I am part of!! I was strangely calm and confident during the whole process and once again was treated to irish charm and courtesy. The bus driver was fantastic and gave me warning as my stop was coming up. A small walk up the rather uneven street and there was the hotel or should I say what looked like the Vatican including St Peter’s Square.

Booked in and settled into my rather “nice” room. By this time it was after lunch and my tummy was rumbling. To cut a long story short after looking at the options I ended up in the bar sitting on a high stool enjoying a very tasty meal. Bar tender was wonderful and attentive. Stacks of people all ages all around made for a very pleasant couple of hours.
I am extremely aware of my weight. Especially after the last leg of my flight over- another story! Hence I am trying to walk for an hour a day. Off I went. I know the sidewalks are rather narrow on some of these streets in this city but I had a quick reminder. As I walked past an interesting looking pub I obviously wasn’t paying attention and next thing I know I am out on the roadway on the ground. Thank God no cars at that second.Three rather young men from out of nowhere appeared and stayed with me until I was on my feet. They were so chatty with one even pulling up the leg of his trouser to show me a scar where he had damaged himself on his knee recently. They were lovely sadly too young!!
Gosh I felt an idiot and once again I hit my knee. (Different one this time Angela)It is a bit sore today (Monday) but nothing to worry about. Anyway I am fine nothing like trying to draw attention to yourself hey. Must away to my walk this morning. I am determined to return home with no increase in weight or even maybe having lost some.
Cheers(literally) till next chat

  1. Hey - why "sadly too young?" You could try out your cougar moves while remaining anonymous in Ireland!!!

Thought of you today while I was walking through the Boondall wetlands and along the foreshore of what we laughingly call Nudgee 'Beach.' I was imagining I was walking in the mist aound one of the coves of the Ring of Kerry. Think of me when you're doing the 'real' thing.

By the way - no more falling! - just as well you haven't got another knee to land on - or maybe that could be useful!!
    Love and hugs, Angela
